HOOVER, Ala. (Aug. 7, 2024) - After a five-week run of elite women’s amateur summer competitions spanning across the country beginning with the Sea Island Women’s Amateur in late-May and culminating with the LNGA Amateur Championship in late-July, the 2024 Women’s Elite Amateur Cup standings were completed capping off the inaugural season for the Women’s Elite Amateur Golf Series (WEAGS).
Using World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) points earned from competing in the five WEAGS member events (Sea Island Women’s Amateur, Southwestern Women’s Amateur, Women’s North & South Amateur, Women’s Western Amateur and LNGA Amateur Championship), Huai-Chien (Cindy) Hsu of Taiwan finished atop the final standings to win the title.
Additionally, the top two players inside the top 10 of the final standings not already exempt earned an exemption into the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship being played this week at Southern Hills in Tulsa, OK. Molly Smith of Westford, Mass. and Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham, Ala. secured the final two coveted spots into the field.

First Place – Huai-Chien (Cindy) Hsu, Tainan City, Taiwan
Finishing atop the standings by a mere .8129 points is Huai-Chien (Cindy) Hsu of Tainan City, Taiwan with a final total of 35.8639 points earned by competing in three WEAGS events where she finished inside the top four at each start.
A junior this fall at The University of Texas, Hsu kicked-off the Series at the Southwestern Women’s Amateur posting rounds of 73-69-67-71 for a 280 (-8) total to finish in a tie for second place. At the Women’s Western Amateur, she advanced through 36 holes of qualifying and the 32-player match play bracket to the semifinals falling to Farah O’Keefe of Austin, Tex. by a 2 and 1 score.
Needing a strong finish to catch the Cup leaders at the final event, she posted rounds of 73-67-69 for a 209 (-7) total to place in a tie for fourth at the LNGA Amateur to capture the title.
Earlier this summer, she competed in the U.S. Women’s Open Presented by Ally at Lancaster Country Club finishing in a tie for 87th.
Hsu is currently ranked 50th in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Second Place – Molly Smith, Westford, Mass. (USA)
The only player to compete in all five WEAGS events this summer, Molly Smith of Westford, Mass. finished the Series in second place less than point behind Huai-Chien (Cindy) Hsu.
A sophomore this fall at the University of Central Florida, Smith finished inside the top 10 twice with a Round of 16 run at the Women’s North & South Amateur along with a T9 showing at the Sea Island Women’s Amateur. Her other finishes include T13 at the Southwestern Women’s Amateur, T22 at the LNGA Amateur and T41 at the Women’s Western Amateur.
With her second-place finish in the Series, Smith earned an exemption into this week’s 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
Smith is currently ranked 224th in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Third Place – Catie Craig, Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. (USA)
Catie Craig of Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. closed the Series in third place with 32.6819 points after competing in three WEAGS events.
A senior at Western Kentucky University this fall, Craig began her summer with a T23 finish at the Sea Island Women’s Amateur.
A month later, she won the 122nd Women’s North & South Amateur in Pinehurst, N.C. by a 4 and 3 score over Macy Pate of Winston-Salem, N.C. Her final WEAGS appearance was a Round of 32 finish at the Women’s Western Amateur.
Craig is currently ranked 101st in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Fourth Place – Scarlett Schremmer, Birmingham, Ala. (USA)
Scarlett Schremmer of Birmingham, Ala. finished the Series with 31.3475 points highlighted by two Top 10 finishes to take fourth place. The University of Texas commit, and member of the U.S. National Development Team competed in four WEAGS events.
Schremmer began the Series with a T20 finish at the Sea Island Women’s Amateur. Two weeks later at the Southwestern Women’s Amateur, she placed in a tie for sixth place. At the Women’s North & South Amateur, she advanced to the Round of 32 and rounded out the summer with a tie for fourth place at the LNGA Amateur Championship.
With her fourth-place finish in the Series, Schremmer earned an exemption into this week’s 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship.
Schremmer is currently ranked 245th in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
Fifth Place – Kaitlyn Schroeder, Jacksonville, Fla. (USA)
Kaitlyn Schroeder of Jacksonville, Fla, rounded out the top five with 31.0906 points after competing in four WEAGS events.
The University of Alabama sophomore began the Series with a tie for fifth at the Sea Island Women’s Amateur with round of 69-72-69 to post a 210 (E) score.
Her other Series finishes include a Round of 16 run at the Women’s Western Amateur, T29 at the LNGA Amateur and advancing to the Round of 32 at the Women’s North & South Amateur.
Schroeder is currently ranked 341st in the world according to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR).
